On the Timber Trail
BENNETT RD CAMPGROUND - ONGARUE
A basic free campground based next to Epic's base in Ongarue. The campground has a small shelter with water kindly donated by the Te Araroa Trust and new toilets donated by Friends of the Timber Trail. Plenty of grassy area for setting up tents or park your campervan in the carpark.
Before/After your Timber Trail Trip
Situated 2kms down a private driveway off SH4, only 5min from Epic's base in Ongarue. Wairere Cottage sits peacefully on a working sheep & beef farm. Makes an ideal base to kick off your Epic Timber Trail adventure or break up that trip home after! Great option for groups sleeping up to 8 people.
Alexander Motel offers modern, spotlessly clean, self contained accommodation. Located a few minutes walk from the centre of Taumarunui, yet away from the noise of the railway line and SH4. With safe off street parking, next to the RSA and close to other cafes and shopping.
MOKETENUI STATION - BENNEYDALE
Moketenui Station is a working sheep and beef farm in the heart of the King Country located only 20 mins from start of the Timber Trail. Stand on the deck and view the beautiful countryside. Enjoy the peace and quiet and relax in the newly refurbished Shearers Quarters. Great for groups with sleeping arrangements up to 10.
PUKEATEA FARM RETREAT - KIRIKAU
Relax with the whole family at this beautiful peaceful house located on a working family farm. With a large yard, small orchard, fenced above ground pool, 2 decks to lounge on and views in all directions. Just under an hours drive to Epic's base in Ongarue, pickup supplies in Taumarunui to or from your Adventure.
